Akers sets new school record at Kutztown Invitational
KUTZTOWN, Pa. –
Freshman Becky Akers set a new school record in the 1,650 yard freestyle with a time of 18:39.26 as the Salisbury University women’s swimming team finished in sixth place and the men finished in third place at the two-day Kutztown Invitational this past weekend.

This is the third time this season Akers has set a school record as she now holds records in the 1,000 yard freestyle and the 1,650 yard freestyle.

Freshman Katy Turner finished third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:20.96 as the women finished with 206 total points for the Invitational.

The men were led by senior Cole Mangum who won the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.46. The men's 200 freestyle relay team finished in second place with a time of 1:31.21.

The men compiled 408 points and held off Montclair State for third position by a mere five points. Kutztown University won the event in both the men's and women's side.

The Sea Gulls are off until December 1 when they will travel to York, Pa., to face the Spartans and Goucher at 2 p.m.
