Salisbury downed by Ospreys, 1-0
SALISBURY, Md. –
The Salisbury University women's soccer team managed only three shots on goal Monday afternoon as Richard Stockton defeated the Sea Gulls, 1-0, in front of the crowd of 130 at the SU Soccer Complex.

Salisbury (10-2-1) was outshot 10-2 in the first half and Richard Stockton's (13-2-2) Shelley Gibney scored in the 36th minute to give the Ospreys their first win over the Sea Gulls since 2004.

The maroon and gold had its opportunities as Salisbury earned six second half corner kicks. The best chance came in the 80th minute when junior Christian Eury sent a ball to the middle of the box that senior Kate Weaver headed for the apparent equalizer. Richard Stockton's Alex Rogers denied the scoring threat as she punched the ball over the goal.

Rogers made two saves on the afternoon and improved her record to 12-2-1 in net for the Ospreys while junior Gena Goodson (6-2-1) made four saves in the loss.

The Ospreys held the advantage in shots, 13-11, while SU had five more corner kicks than Richard Stockton, 9-4.

The Sea Gulls return to action on Saturday, October 20, as they host Capital Athletic Conference foe Hood at 1 p.m. at the SU Soccer Complex.
