Sea Gulls blank Mustangs, 1-0
OWINGS MILLS, Md. –
The Salisbury University women’s soccer team remained unbeaten this season as they beat Capital Athletic Conference foe Villa Julie College 1-0 Saturday afternoon in front of a crowd of 100.

The Sea Gulls (5-0-1, 2-0 CAC) had 12 first half shots and the first and only shot by senior Robyn Bishop found the back of the net at the 36 minute mark to give the Gulls a 1-0 lead at halftime.

SU outshot the Mustangs 19-11 for the game and the Gull defense was anchored by goalie Kristin Greene (3-0) made four second half saves (six for the game) to preserve the win. Salisbury earned seven corner kicks to VJC’s one.

Mustang goalie Casey Brown made nine saves in the loss for VJC (4-3). SU leading scorer Kate Weaver got off six shots, four on goal, but couldn’t find the back of the net to break her five-game streak with at least one point.

Salisbury returns to action as they face Christopher Newport University on Tuesday, September 25, at 4:30 p.m. at the Sea Gull Soccer Complex.
